Yes, exactly this. I don’t know how Pioneer did that but this appears to be very precise.
This would likely add an element of chaos rather than alignment with any material that is not for to the floor or otherwise predictable rhythmically, but that would not necessarily be a bad thing especially when things like tape delay were applied to voices 🙂
