Hi everyone,
My H90 is linked up with a bunch of other MIDI pedals and a Boss ES-8 switcher.
I am having some trouble getting the H90 to recognise any MIDI signal with any consistency. Currently there is no clock recognition, no MIDI messages received and also no THRU to any other pedals in the MIDI chain. If I remove the H90 all other signals are being sent as expected with no problems so i’m confident my issue lays with the H90. (Remains even if this is the only pedal connected with MIDI).
It was working last night for a reason I can’t be sure but has since stopped working again. All cables tested without the H90 and they’re all working. The H90 is also on its own power supply
My source is set to MIDI clock and all other pedals in the chain before the H90 are working well.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated as i’m really at a loss as to how this can work intermittently and struggling a bit here.
Thanks so much!

Hello,
It would be best to isolate the H90 from the rest of the MIDI chain and work with a simple setup for troubleshooting.
It sounds like the ES-8 is the MIDI brain of your setup? Can you try connecting that directly to the H90?
If you are sending MIDI clock from that device, you need to make sure the H90 Clock Source is DIN in system settings, and Tempo Source is MIDI Clock in the tempo menu.
You should see the tempo follow the BPM of the device it is syncing to with these settings.
For PC/CC messages, you can try setting Receive Omni > On and sending a PC should load a new Program without any further configuration on the H90.
Please try the above suggestions and let me know what happens.

Hey!
Thanks so much for this.
I’ve isolated the H90 and the problem is still persisting but with a strange detail.
When connected through MIDI only – no jacks plugged into the IO panel – Clock/CC/PC messages work perfectly.
As soon as a 1/4″ jack is connected to any input or output, it loses the ability to connect. But this only happens when connected to a pedal sending the MIDI signal.
I have tried this through the ES8, Microcosm and EHX 45000 and the problem is consistent with all of them individually (also tried many different cables etc). I’ve also tried separate power supplies and sockets for everything to see if that was an issue but the problem remains the same.
Thanks for your help and hopefully that helps diagnose it a little more.

Thanks for the information. This sounds pretty strange.
Are you able to connect your H90 to a MIDI monitor on your computer? That would be the best way to troubleshoot this further. You would need some sort of interface to connect the DIN output to your computer via USB.
Another simple test:
The H90 will always send a PC message when you load a new Program from the Playlist if MIDI output mode is set to Transmit.
Can you try connecting the H90 directly to another device that will receive PC messages and see if this works?
