I have the new JHS Clover and I can only set my volume up to 9 o clock. Any higher, both the Eventide machines clip.
My signal chain is as follows:
Matthews Architect > Scarlett OD > BOSS JB2 > JHS Clover > Dunlop Volume > Emerson Buffer > H9 > Space.
Any idea why this is happening? Or it’s the Clover’s internal output level very hot?
The H9 only has a guitar level input, so a hot line level will clip it.
The Space has a Guitar/Line switch, so you should be OK if you switch it to line.
But, anything can be overloaded if you drive it hard enough.
I’ve watched review videos of the Clover being cranked past 9 o clock. Am I right to say that with the H9, I cannot run it pass that level, otherwise I have to place the Clover last in the chain?
I'm afraid I have no knowledge of the Clover.
But, there is a general principle for all equipment (not just ours).
If you are overloading something, you have to reduce the input level.
You may want to ask Mr Clover how to do this if it is not clear.
