        Hello –

        I installed the new modules, and started the recovery mode.   After about 30 seconds the main screen flashes and then everything goes dark, and no recovery mode is started.  Have tried this several times.  The USB drive is installed with the updater files. Note I do not have the original drive.  I formatted this drive in a Windows PC using FAT-32.  The drive is a USB-C drive with a USB-A adaptor.  I used the stopper when copying the files from the PC, so I know it works.

          Hello,

          I’d guess this is an issue with the drive. We do not support USB-C drives when using an adapter. It may work, but we’ve never tested that.

          Do you have a USB-A drive that you can format to FAT-32 and try? If not, please email support@eventideaudio.com and we can help you get the correct drive.

            Thanks for the quick reply.   I found a USB-A drive and it is formatted to FAT-32.  Its size is 4GB.  I copied the two files from the Zip drive again.  Went through the recovery procedure again.  Same results:  I hold the check and X while it’s powered on, the meter lights are on, the setup light is flashing, then after about 3M seconds the main screen flashes, there is a click, and it all goes dark.  The screen is dark but still slightly backlit .  Turning it off the screen goes completely dark.

              * 3M seconds = 30 seconds.

                Can you doublecheck that the modules are fully installed? You need to apply a bit of force to fully install them in the socket, and the plastic clip on each side should lock the module in place. If they aren’t fully installed that could result in the unit not booting fully.

                  Update – it worked!   I left it on after the screen and the buttons went dark, and then it went into recovery mode a number of minutes later.  It just went through the entire boot up sequence.
