        Hi there,
I would like to be able to control amount of input signal going into fx with an expression pedal, in a context of a mono signal inside a pedal board ( one input, one output). It should be independent of dry/wet mix.
The only ways I have found is to use Space in a fx loop, with expression controlling input signal, or using routing wet/dry mode with 2 outputs, but how can I achieve this in a mono chain ?

For now I have a workaround : to use Dualverb algorithm with A as a dry signal (no decay, no predelay) and B as a wet signal, and expression controlling A/B mix, but A will never be a completely dry signal, and it’s not possible with others algorithms .

Am I missing something ? Any help will be precious.

Without suggesting that the following is the final word on the subject (I hope it’s not. I hope someone proves me wrong), I think you understand things correctly.

Maybe 4 years ago I set out to find all the ways to create “pseudo-spillover” with the H9 (which does not have real spillover). The trick was to find a way to throttle the input to the effect (most of the mix controls manipulate the effect output, not the input) . In Space, all I could find was the A/B mix control in DualVerb just as you mention.

I also found this ability in H9 algos UltraTap and in PitchFuzz. FWIW I have attached H9 preset images for those. In PitchFuzz, I feel like I’m trying to outsmart the algo to pull this off. By contrast, I feel that UltraTap is the best H9 algo for this b/c this feature appears to be specifically/intentionally included in the algo. I have also attached an UltraTap flow chart showing why: the Chopper can be controlled by an expression pedal upstream of the Taps Engine. Other than in DualVerb, I’m not aware of any Space algo that does anything similar to this.

          Hope that helps.
          ~Tony

That is such a pity that we can’t use expression pedal this way. Could we expect an update for this ? It could be a very great feature.

I’m nobody, but I don’t think we’ll see any changes to the Factor or H9 pedals.

The H90 has all kinds of other bells and whistles that apply, but I limited my comments to Space and the H9.

                  Yeah, you’re probable right.

But Space is still a great and useful stuff for a 15 years old pedal ! And still manufactured and sold.

It doesn’t cost anything to ask, and I think we could hope because it is a very useful and nice feature.
