Okay I have TF (SW 2.0.3[2]) which I am using as master into MF (SW 2.4.0[1]) into PF (SW 2.3.0[2]).  I am using a rocktron midi mate us a midi foot control.  I have earnie ball vp jr 50 k ohm as an expression pedal into TF.  I am trying to use expression pedal to control all 3 while using midi mate to change presets for all 3.  If I change midi output on TF to XMT the expression pedal controls all 3 but I can no longer change patches in all 3.  Conversely, if I change TF midi output to thru, I can change all 3 patches via midi mate but expression only works with TF.  HELP!  I've tried every trick in the book and nothing works.

I also can not get TF to read expression via midi from midi mate when the expression pedal is plugged into midi mate?

I swear I will give someone 500 dollars to come up with a program for musical device interface programing which more user friendly than MIDI as MIDI is incredibly retarded!

I'm afraid MIDI is what MIDI is. Many people find it useful.

You have various issues here, all of which are have solutions.

      1) The nature of MIDI is that an output is either OUT or THRU. A rack unit will have separate outputs, but space limitations prevent this on a smaller box. If you want to use a pedalboard or such to control multiple units in series you probably want to use THRU.

      2) You can solve your pedal problem by connecting it to all Factors in parallel – trying to use the MIDI outputs from the pedals conflicts with your requirement in (1) above.

Another approach would be to use MIDI Merge boxes, which can overcome the OUT/THRU limitations, but add complexity and (modest) cost.
