I have a pitchfactor for a few days.
I can connect it to the h9 control, but the device manager searches a device for a few seconds and then crashes. I wonder why?

You will get an official response from Eventide staff, but I think they may want you to clarify whether you’re experiencing this only with the Eventide Device Manager, but not H9 Control. It would be helpful to specify what O/S your are using, too.
It sounds like you purchased a used device, so the firmware probably hasn’t been updated to the latest. I can tell you that I solved some puzzling PitchFactor issues myself in the past with the Eventide Direct Updater.

Have now the Eventide Device Manager installed on an other PC (win 10).
It opens and does nor crash any more.
It recognizes Device Name, Version 5.2.0 (6) and serial number.
BUT just the Firmware Updates menu is available,
so I update, even it says 5.2.0 (6) is on the Pitchfactor. It seams to update and after about 8 or 9 minutes it says
“your device needs to be rebooted manually. after rebooting reselect your device.”
I do so but only to enter again in the Firmware Updates menu of de EDM…
I already updated (?) 4 or 5 times, but it´s a loop, I end always at the same place…
frustrating!

Sorry for the issues you are having. Please contact support@eventide.com and reference this post. We can provide some alternate troubleshooting and updating instructions there.

So, conclusion:
it looks like you can only use the EDM for updating, nothing else… Too bad! But maybe the H9 Controll is optimal anyway?
Jerome Hyman commented:
Hello,
I’m sorry, but EDM cannot be used for preset management with our Factor pedals. If you want a software editor for preset management, then you will need to use H9 Control. Make sure that you have V5 software installed or you will not be able to use H9 Control.
