Riptide question

I am sorry if this asked before, but nothing came up in search for me … anywhere.

I’m a little confused on the operation of the mono/stereo toggle on the Eventide Riptide device. Is it exclusively for input or does it effect both in and out?

My specific question is: If I am using a mono input, but want a stereo output, do I set it to mono or stereo, or is this not possible?

I know I shouldn’t pay attention to Google AI, but it says that the toggle affects both in/out, so if it’s in set to mono, you have to use a TS cable and the pedal only outputs a summed signal in the left output. Conversely, it says the stereo settings requires a TRS input and outputs are split L/R. My confusion is, if I set it to stereo, since I have a stereo output, does that mean I HAVE to use a TRS cable — or can I just use a mono input for stereo outs? And, again, should the switch be “mono” because of the inputs or “stereo” because of the outputs

And just to elaborate, the main reason for my confusion is this sentence in the Riptide manual:

“In Mono, both outputs have the same dry signal”

That sentence confused the bejesus out of me. Huh? Why no wet?

The mono/stereo switch is only for determining whether you are using a mono or stereo input.

For mono in > stereo out, leave this switch on mono and it will work correctly.

To clarify, when it says “In Mono, both outputs have the same dry signal” it just means the mono input is multed to the stereo outputs. It does not mention anything about the wet signal.
