RJM PBC 6x and H90 Midi PC/CC

Hello I am having trouble getting my RJM PBC 6x switch to control the H90. It will not respond to any PC or CC messages. Both are updated to latest firmware and devices selected and same midi channel. Yet I get no response from the H90 to even simply send PC to change to a new program. I have tried 3 different midi cables as well as bypassing my splitter thru box. If anyone knows a solution please let me know.

Sorry for the issues you are having. It’s best to start simple with no MIDI splitter etc. A few things you can try:

Do you have another MIDI device that can send PC messages to the H90? Connect the device directly to the H90 via MIDI and it should change Programs on the H90 with no further configuration.

Does the controller work to send PC messages to another device using the same settings that aren’t working with the H90?

What messages exactly are you sending from the MIDI controller? Are they PC messages with a corresponding number (ie. PC1, PC2, etc.) or are you trying to increment/decrement/load Programs on the H90?

I have set up multiple chains with the H90 including just one midi cable and I sent just a simple PC 1 or 2,3 and the H90 does nothing. I have also programed CC messages for increment load and it does not respond to this either. I use the RJM PBC 6x it when many other midi devices like Timeline, Flint, Meris M7 with no issues sending PC and CC. RJM has tried to help me as well and no solution.

I am rather confused as to why my H90 seems to not respond to any midi

Sorry, I’m not sure what is causing the issue is either. It would be useful to determine if this is only an issue with the RJM.

Do you have another MIDI device that can send PC messages to the H90?

Can the Timeline send PC messages? You could try having that send PC messages instead of the RJM.

Yes I have sent PC midi and CC messages via the Quad Cortex just midi out to midi in connection. And it again did not respond. The QC then sent midi to my timeline and flint. Both worked perfectly midi PC and CC.
I am very confused as to what the issues is. I must have the midi on the H90 set up in correctly. Or my unit is faulty.

Can you try setting the H90 to Receive Omni on?

After that, connect the RJM MIDI output directly to the H90 MIDI input.

Configure the RJM to send some sort of CC message.

Go to parameters mode on the H90, and hold down one of the Quick Knobs to open the parameter mapping menu.

Select CTL Source “Learn” and press the footswitch on the RJM to send a CC message.

Does the H90 recognize this?

I did this and the H90 did not respond to the CC message. I must have a setting or something incorrect on the RJM or H90. You were able to fix my Micro Clock Tap issue with just a user error so I assume this is the same. I felt like I was pretty versed with midi but now I feel dumb.
