Hello all
Probably a simple one, but I can’t find/figure out how to do this;
How do I set a right-left side alternating echo on, say, the ‘anothrbrick1’ or ‘pristine digital delay’ delay algorithm?
Any/all help is always appreciated!

I think your stumbling block on those Presets is in the Delay Mix. You want it centered A10+B10, to affect both delays equally. Then there’s the offsets you need in the two Delay times, to get them panning.
I did a quick mod on those 2 Presets; getting rid of the extraneous values. If you want the shorter & longer Delays to fade out at about the same rate, it’s important to adjust the Feedback levels accordingly.
I want to add the Feedback routing is different across many of the Delay / Pitch / Multi algorithms. At times it will be a single Feedback path for both Delays, or cross-feedback, twin Delay Feedback paths, Feedback path mixed to mono, ‘disintegrating’ Feedback, or the Feedback length equal to the longest Delay time.
The point being: That offers a lot of options, but be aware that the panning results will be very different, depending on the algorithm used.

Thanks Brock!
I can hear the panning delays, or going stereo back-and–forth motion of the echos, as I set each delay on a different time signature, 1/4 and 1/8. And that alone sounds super-cool! I was hoping to create an echo that has the same beat division that bounces from left side to right side as the echos fade, being able to control the amount of signal into the non-dominant side with each passing echo. Is there a algorithm that you are aware of on the unit that does that, with minimal modulation? I will check out other algorithms to see if I can find that!

I think I know what you mean. Some ping-pong delays (like the Boss DD-20, if I recall correctly) allow you to set up a single delay time, for example an 1/8 note. Then the unit does all of the ping-pong routing internally [1/8th left – 1/8th right].
It’s going to be different here. Most of the Eventide offerings are dual delays. Each side looks at it as a division of the BPM. So, about the same thing in the result (noting feedback routing differences listed above). Except you have to double the ‘ping’ note value to get the ‘pong’ side.
A few suggestions to get you started:
- Filter Pong – delays are routed in series, Filter control to zero, It’s specifically set up to ping-pong, but I don’t think this is what you’re after in the feedback routing.
- HeadSpace – the most configurable delay of the bunch. Also the most difficult to wrap your head around. The Delay Time parameter is the full length of all four Heads. So you’d set up the Head Div as 1/4 – 1/2- 3/4 – 1. Pan each head full L-R accordingly. That will get you 2 ‘pings’ and 2 ‘pongs’. One caveat: the Feedback all gets mixed to mono / center after the 1st pass.
- SpaceTime – probably what I might choose first for this. Minimize all of the modulation and reverb parameters. Make sure Delay Lvl is set to Dly10+Snd0. Set your Delay times where you want (one is 2x the other). Use a Fdbk 1 value for the repeats.

Thanks again, Brock, that ‘spacetime’ algorithm might do it…
Man, thanks again! I absolutely love this pedal, and I’m just scratching the surface of what it can do, I’m sure!

You know, sometimes you just can’t see the forest for the trees. I’ve been working all evening with UltraTap. Perhaps my favorite – a multi-algorithm if there ever was one. And yet, it just dawned on me that this is a near-perfect fit for your application.
A single beat division, with ping-pong panning, using a single Feedback control.
- The Length is going to be ping + pong.
- That is, instead of thinking of it as a 1/4 note ping-pong delay, consider that the total L+R Length will be 1/4 note + 1/4 note.
- The Length (1/2 note above) is divided by the number of Taps (2 here).
- The Width of 100 pans those two Taps full right & left.
- For left to right, change the Width to -100.
- The single Feedback control loops around the entire Length.
You’ll have fun later on with all those other parameters (set to neutral / minimized values here).

great summary of the huge range of delay flavors here (and on the H9), each of which can yield interesting results and inspire cool sounds. Thanks, Brock, for another thoughtful walkthrough of the pedal — your approach and write ups always help me enjoy the pedal more.

Thanks for the help with this. I gigged the past two nights with the delay set the first way; it worked, but… I’m using a tap tempo, so the tap timing didn’t work the way it needed to (the 1/2 division was too long for certain segments of songs, especially when the feel shifted) but I got thru the gig fine and the sounds that the pedal can make made for smiles in the audience (and on the musician)! 😀🎸
<span style=”font-size: inherit;”>I will try the ultra tap set up tomorrow when I get back to re-programming the H90.</span>
It is a real pleasure to share some of the sounds this pedal is capable of with an audience. Unthinkable not long ago; now it’s right here! I’m using the h90 set up with two expression pedals, which really makes great shifts of sound in real time very manageable!
Thanks again all! The answers and suggestions you all have offered on this forum is extremely helpful to me!!
