        <span style=”font-size: inherit;”>Just starting my adventure. </span>

I’d love to explore techniques for creating those lush, psychedelic Spongle-esque effects with h90.

If anyone has favourite tricks, routing ideas or sound design approaches, please share.

Whether subtle textures or full-on sonic journeys, all ideas are welcome.

It’d be helpful to tell us what you’re using as input for any targeted suggestions.  Much easier to narrow down this broad topic to a guitar, synth, or some other source inputs (flute?).  Also, are you using an expression pedal or aux switches with the H90?

For generalities, have a look at the H90 Patchstorage entries.  There’s a little bit of everything represented there, and many hundreds of Programs & Program Lists to choose from.  The patch descriptions should guide you in the right directions.

OK, so if I narrow down, that would be the types of effects as in the first four albums including remixes. What follows this too extreme from me. For instruments mainly synthesized and vocals, but wouldn’t mind flute, or any other sampled real instrument 🙂

For now I’m using on-board knobs and encoders.

I play mostly ambient music on MC-707 by Roland.

So, along the lines of D.M.T. or similar.

Most of my pre-built stuff uses the HotKnobs & HotSwitches, but rely very heavily on expression pedals and/or Aux switches. Those might be in the correct vein, but not necessarily for plug ‘n’ play to get the most out of them.

For your instrument selections & vocals, you could do a lot worse than running through the Programs that shipped with the new Harmonizer+ category.  I wouldn’t push the whole groovebox through them; isolated track processing.  And you can’t go wrong following those up in Series with any type of modulation or delay/reverb occupying the 2nd slot.

Excellent thank you. I can see you’ve been registered for 15 years!

I’ve tried quadravox in Series followed by crystallizer, settings in which the nature of the latter doesn’t get too explicit, and it’s really rewarding especially with tails on.
I will look at the other harmonizer + effects as well.
What I’m finding is that h90 is the first effector in which I select one preset and end up using it for days with slight variations, so it may take a year until I get familiar with all the types.
I’m most of the time using it as send at various levels for different channels however pulling through a channel 100% wet was as enchanting.

How about “I believe….” flute accompaniment in gamma goblins? 🙂

It’s not a bad thing.  You discover that the each algorithm is actually a multi-effect.  And eventually, which ones are the best fit for overall concept you’re looking for.  You’ll find that every choice brings a different set of parameters to the table, however subtle.

Using your example, QuadraVox+ adds the potential for delay feedback paths, detuning, and an alternate set of harmonies (with glides!).  Crystals is great, but you may find Polyphony or Reverse fits the intent in a slightly different way.

I did start ‘way back with the PitchFactor, but you never really stop learning the H90, and that’s disregarding the periodic updates with brand new algorithms.  I recently re-discovered some cool applications for Synthonizer & Octaver (two I never bonded with, initially).  So sometimes, it’s just looking at an effect from a different angle.  One of the first things I do with an idea is see how two algorithms compare in Series, swapped in Series, or in Parallel.

That’s exactly it – these are de facto multi-effects.

<span style=”font-size: inherit;”>Polyphony is very interesting indeed. I’ve not figured out what it really does but it adds life to synthetic sound, very apparent even with synths with much modulation going on. </span>

You cannot change the order in the sequential setting, can you?

In H90 Control, check out #8 in the image below:

And I forgot to include the easy way, on pedal:

When using Insert or Dual routing, press Quick Knob 1 to swap Presets A and B.

                          6.2 Routing

Enjoy the adventures of deep-diving into psychedelia.
