If I had to gig (rock, blues, pop, country, jazz, etc.) with one H9, an expression pedal and a hotswitch, I'd use a few presets from a set of ten presets I've made for this minimalist purpose. All are posted and begin with a number and the letters BST (for boost). So presets 1BST..., 2BST..., 3BST... to 10BST... provides at least reverb and/or delay and a boost to comp and solo without changing presets. They may also provide selectable overdrive and/or distortion, or chorus. I'd use one preset for the full length of a song and use an exp pedal and/or hotswitch to do things like add distortion and/or a boost for a solo. Since I'm not changing presets there is no glitch or dead air during any of these changes. Adjust to taste. I have also posted a BONUS 11th preset called 122RV HSBOOST for a Leslie that works the same way. 9/2/2022

I once traveled to far off lands to find the best Binson Echorec H9 presets in the world. I'm posting three of these presets with a total of seven beautifully cacophonous delays. Use an expression pedal and the hotswitch to get at them. Most, if not all of these seven, were originally created by Brock (it's tough to recall which ones) and I just tweaked them a bit (as should you). Thanks to Brock for his endless generosity. 9/7/2022

Description
The Resonator algo has it all. Two FREEZE positions over delay FEEDBACK types, a decent REVERB, and a four bands of narrow filters. You can stack NOTE (1-4), split them across the spectrum, emphasize the RESONANCE, stagger them with delay, and regenerate accurately, or while scattering the delay patterns. For control, the HotSwitch flips from FB1: 97 to its complimentary FREEZE position. It'll always stay close to, or at a near-frozen condition. You could get some noise buildup in an idle condition here, even without intentional input. So there has to be a way to bail out of high feedback / FREEZE. The expression pedal sweeps from FB1: 97, nudges past the FB1 / FREEZE HotSwitch range, passes through all of the FB2 positions, and ends up at the 2nd FREEZE setting available (fully clockwise, for FB2). This will allow several moves within one pedal sweep: Full Heel will be close to an infinite repeat, but will eventually decay away. With a good pedal & sensitive foot, you might be able to nail the FREEZE position (within a few clicks of the Heel default). A small move forward pushes it into very low FB2 levels (effectively purging the frozen drone). The middle 2/3 of pedal throw give you access to all of the degrading-loop levels of FB2. Full Toe puts the FREEZE to the disintegrated pattern at one moment in time. So its HotSwitch to toggle near-frozen with one FREEZE type, plus EXP PED to 'erase' any hold, and span all variations to FREEZE #2. Deep REVERB (kind of a combination DECAY / SIZE / LEVEL) glues & smoothes everything together with a wash. Shorter LENGTH will fuse the four delays together, up to infinite metallic resonances. Longer LENGTH adds a RHYTHM-ic component to the droning sounds, with dozens of patterns available. Those patterns can be tuned using 4 resonant filters. In this preset, they highlight a wide spread over the available frequency spectrum, with enough RESONANCE to flavor the frozen drone variations.

Description
Here's an E minor pentatonic riff that decays over time. The FB:2 selection in Feedback "degrades the pattern as it repeats"; effectively shuffling the resonant notes around. The expression pedal fades out the resonance & background reverb. That brings everything forward for a rhythmic, delay-only decay. The Feedback setting still shuffles the repetitions around. HotSwitch programming swaps direction of the notes E5-G5-A5-B5 to B5-A5-G5-E5.

Here's a long decaying, 1 second phrase looper. The Rhythm defaults to 2.3.5.7, but the expression pedal is mapped across the full range, from 1.1.1.1 to 8.8.8.8. You can 'play' the Rhythm spacing as it loops. The HotSwitch changes Feedback from FB1:95 to its particular Freeze position. The long decay is defeated, and Rhythm positions can still be 'played' with the expression pedal. Note 1-4 have no Resonance (unpitched), but their active high & low pass filters are set to sweep upward across the four delays. Here is the default Rhythm of 2.3.5.7, as adjusted from the Note Grid tab. You can adjust apparent pitch / filter positions, delay timing, and overall delay maximum, all from this page.
