The MT48 has 32 ins and 16 outs via DANTE when connected to the computer with a USB C cable. So I’d like to use the H9000 to add to the physical inputs (only 4 physical on the MT48). And I also have an RME A to D converter that I would like to use the ADAT on the H9000 to connect it to so I can send a total of 16 channels down the Dante ethernet cable back to the MT48. Is this a pretty straight ahead setup and easy to get working correctly? I’ve used it kind of like this with USB and ADAT. Does it basically work in a similar way, but I just choose DANTE instead of USB for the routing?
Using H9000’s direct I/O it can act as digital patchbay. This allows you to route signal from H9000’s analog and digital inputs directly to Dante outputs so that audio can be routed on the network. The Emote controller makes it simple to visualize the connections. Yes, it sounds like you’d be doing the same thing you’ve been doing with routing USB.
As far as clocking, would I just clock the RME to the H9000 and then the DANTE card takes care of clocking to my MT48?
Yes, that is correct. The Dante card’s clock is set in Audinate’s Dante Controller. Dante Controller’s Clock Status tab displays the current clock source of the Dante card. This clock source can be set with the “Enable Sync To External” checkbox. However, to sync the H9000 to Dante, set the H9000’s clock source to “Exp A/B/C (Dante)”, and uncheck “Enable Sync To External” for the Dante card in Dante Controller. Please note: The Dante card’s sample rate must be set manually under the Device Config tab in Dante Controller’s Device View. If the H9000’s clock syncs to Dante, then the H9000’s clock will automatically follow Dante’s sample rate.
