Hi!!! I'm the happy new owner of a secondhand H7600.

The problem is that it won't start up. I get this message after it loads the presets:

      A bus error has occured
      Program: 00E8B4
      Data : 1341753

I've written a mail to support, but i'm offcourse eager to try the beast, so i hoped that one of you guys could maby answer me if there's a chance i can solve this with a firmware update?

      Thanks in advance, Morten Berthelsen…

      Hi Morten

(from DK?) try powering on the "beast" and PRESS & HOLD the 8 key when you read H7600 on the display. You'll be prompted to reinitialize (loose all stored info) the unit. Press the YES soft key. this will reset the unit as it should, after an used purchase and probably a shipment.

      Congrats!

Hi Morten. iknow people there, with same name as yours…. ;-9

has your unit been shipped from long distance?

can you try unloading the current presets by powering it on and pressing & holding the PROGRAM key, then YES on prompt.

      Is your power stable?

      please let me know

Aaah, ok. Good cal, he he…

Tried unloading the presets as well, didn't work either.

The power is stable as a rock. Just ran it 5 minutes with no problems (other then that it won't start properly offcourse, he he)

It's been shipped from Berlin, and has been on its way and without power for at least 5 days now. Before that i think it haven't been turned on for some time, cause it's from a closed down studio. Don't know if it has been plucked in until it was packaged.

      you said:

      is that a specific preset?
can you load a preset/any preset?

There is a possibility the unit has had some "rough moments" in the shipment. You should try checking/re_seating socketed components.

Power off the unit. Unplug the power cord. Let it there for a couple of hours.

Open the top cover (screws) and look for all square chips that are on a socket. Try gently pushing them down, particularly U106, this is the large square chip near the red and green leds at the front of the motherboard.

      Let us know!

Ok, i'll try that. Hope it doesn't have to go to Eventide for servicing…

Ok, just checked all the mounted chips thoroughly, but with no luck. Still the same message.

I don't know if it is of any significance, but i left out a bit of the message i get. The correct message is:

A bus error has occured (E12)

      Program  00E8B4

      Data       1341753

I left out "(E12)" don't know ifit is of any importance….

Check that the battery on the motherboard is both present and good.

Year, thought a bit about the battery when i had it open, but didn't know excactly how to check it.

I could maybe pull it out and check with my multimeter… Any other ways?

That would be a good way. Should be about 3V.

Ok… I have to move my studio today, so i'll have to wait till tomorrow to check the battery…
