What are some common things a potential buyer should be looking at when buying an Eventide H8000fw either used or new?

A new one will be covered by the warranty.

For a used one, check that it works and nothing is loose inside. Make sure the mounting ears are not bent and that all the inputs and outputs are functional. Try and get a warranty from the seller (good luck).
