I’VE only had my “new” Eclipse for a week or so and am still wallowing in the sounds and possibilities.
So far, I have just hooked it up analog-style to my system with two pairs of in/outs on balanced cables. My chain is Macbook Pro with Pro Tools – Neve 88M interface – Ferrofish Pulse 16 – Eclipse.
I’ve been running soft synths and other already-recorded stuff through it and back in. Obviously, there is some delay on some things, not so much if my Eclipse mix is down to 20 per cent or so.
But I’m wondering what I can do to get more out of it, for instance should I connect Eclipse to Ferrofish by ADAT? How do I get delays to same tempo as Pro Tools tempo, etc?
Also, I admire and want Italo’s presets but am put off by the buying options as Wise makes me paranoid and bank transfers look expensive – are there any other great preset geniuses out there, who might work with PayPal, for instance?
I have a midi-to-USB gadget, so could save them to Eclipse that way, but what else could I do with it?
Any tips gratefully received, thanks! It’s a glorious beast and when I get the cash, I’ll be straight in for an H9000 in a heartbeat.

It’s been a while since I had my eclipse so my memory may be a bit hazy but the eclipse will sync to MIDI clock, I used a MIDI – usb dongle to get from mac to eclipse, then you’ll need to change a setting on the eclipse IIRC.
I had mine connected to my audio interface via coaxial SPDIF and used it as a send FX, I felt that was the best option as it skips a couple AD conversions. Then I just set the global mix on the eclipse to 100% and adjusted the return in my DAW to taste.
FWIW Wise is safe, I’ve been using it almost three years (US > UA transfers) without any problems.
Enjoy the eclipse, it’s amazing for being 20+ years old!

Thanks. I’ll use the midi-usb that way, then. Can’t believe the sound quality. Those H machines must be mind-blowing. And I’ll maybe reconsider using Wise!
