      Hello,

My setup currently is using the Eclipse v4 analog INPUT (stereo) from an analog Mackie mixer Aux Send (stereo) with the analog OUT of the Eclipse (stereo) back into (2) channels of the Mackie..All is well and good with that part.

However, I’d like to use the Eclipse as an external effects with my DAW (Cubase 9.5 Pro) and a Universal Audio Apollo 8 Thunderbolt. Question is… can I use the Apollo SPDIF OUT  into the Eclispe SPDIF IN and the Eclipse SPDIF OUT back into the Apollo SPDIF IN?  Given the correct cables and internal settings (clock I/O etc.) are taken into account.  Would this be the correct way to patch the Eclipse into the external effects of my DAW? Would the ADAT option work better?

      Thank you.

Hi – I have no knowledge of the Apollo, but as far as the Eclipse is concerned, it would be happy with either S/PDIF or ADAT.

Note that neither of these are good at 96K sampling.

S/PDIF is often unreliable at 96K – this is because of a combination of the low signal levels and a sensitivity to ground issues.

We recommend that you do not use S/PDIF beyond 48K.
