        Hi,

I have problems to make EVE/NET Remote work with H8000FW.

My H8000FW has EVE/NET installed and most probably working OK. When unit is switched on, display shows for some time that it initializes EVE/NET and also it is possible to configure EVE/NET in config after boot completes. But H8000FW does not recognize EVE/NET Remote  (in that setup) that is connected using RJ45 cable (I have tried two different) and EVE/NET Remote is dark, it does not start up at all….

I have bought EVE/NET Remote secondhand from studio, it should be OK, but one never knows…..

But it seems to me that EVE/NET Remote does not receive power from H8000FW and that is why it is “dead”. I have found in EVE/NET Remote user guide (Appendix C), that D2800 LED should indicate power for EVE/NET Remote. At least that is my understanding of the “Motherboard-type configuration” (Page 19). In my case the LED is not lit on, so I guess, it indicates no power goes to EVE/NET Remote and so, it cannot work.

Now, what to do? H8000FW is also secondhand, so I do not know, if previous user has made some modification to HW settings (I mean e.g. power fuse and/or J2803/J2802 jumpers) and so on. It seems to me that they used to have two H8000FWs, so maybe they were linked together and so on.

But without removing card for digital IO I cannot see that part of motherboard that is refered in H8000FW manual (Page 19). And I am little bit scared to remove that card, just because of curiosity to see the fuse and jumpers. So, I would like to know, if it is needed to do to make EVE/NET Remote work. Or at least to make that LED to lit up. And is there something to be careful if removing that card. I do not want to damage what works, I may live without EVE/NET Remote, if making it work would be risky. (I have studied electrical engineering, so I have basic skills to deal with electronics. 😉 )

Or is there another simplier way to supply power to EVE/NET Remote? And not damage H8000FW….

        Thanks for suggestions/help.

OK, I have managed to remove FW/ADAT Expansion Card, so I have reached the fuse. And it is probably blown or defective, it does not conduct.

And now…. Manual says, that older H8000s (those with two mounting holes toroid transformer) cannot be used to power EVE/NET Remote. Mine is H8000FW, but it has that two mounting holes toroid…. So, may that be used to power EVE/NET or not?

Should I use passive PoE 24 V to power EVE/NET, remove fuse in H8000FW and set jumper J2802 to OFF (ground lift)?

OK, I have found that there is a shortcut between 24 V that goes from H8000FW to EVE/NET Remote and the Earth. H8000FW fuse is blown immediately, if EVE/NET Remote  is connected. 🙁

So, there is a defect in EVE/NET Remote. Does anyone have experience with repair? Or idea, what to do. And does Eventide service it still? Preferably in Europe.
