You can read all about this bug here (see link below). There is sound still coming through when using an expression pedal to control the input volume with the pedal in zero position. The bug has been acknowledged a while ago by Eventide. Pedal is calibrated.

Also when using it to control the input volume for swells it doesn’t start the swell smoothly but rather abrupt making it impossible for nice volume delay swells. It is therefore unusable for me and I have to use a separate volume pedal (no expression pedal) for gigs.

Is there a solution coming soon? So I can leave the volume pedal at home.

Using H9 as a volume pedal?

I told you it was unusable.  This will help smooth it out some but it is not a real fix.

I had that Yamaha FC7. Didn’t like its formfactor and weight.

I agree that using the H9 expression as volume pedal is unusable. I can’t believe that Eventide doesn’t fix this leaking bug. Why have the functionality if it is not working as it should? It’s really frustrating! Still hoping for a solution from Eventide. Hope they read along.

Sorry about the delay in replying. Much going on.

We had a look at it, and the problem is due to some deliberate quantization of the pedal value. This is so that electrical noise from the pedal does not modulate the signal or cause constant parameter changes.

As a result, the pedal does not go to a true zero, so the pedal range is reduced to about 40-50dB, which will give some “leaking.” We’ve made a change so that the bottom few dB are “chopped off”, which allows it to reliably go to true zero. This will cause a reduced control at the very bottom end, which might affect your swell smoothness.

Not sure when this will be released, as it is waiting on other things. If you are interested in an “alpha” version, send an email referencing this post marked for my attention to support@eventide.com.

OK, no problem. Great that you are working on this and that is has your attention! I will wait for the official release. Thanks!!!
