Hi all,
I’m encountering an odd issue using the Emote VST in Ableton Live. The first time I open Live and load the VST everything works fine. However, if I close the current project and open another one then the VST can’t connect and I need to restart Live to make the VST work again. Note that standalone Emote always works with no issues.
It’s entirely possible that this is an issue with Ableton and not Emote but I figured I’d ask to see if anyone has encountered this before.

Hello,
I’ll see if I can reproduce your issue. What version of Live are you using? And are you using the latest version of Emote?
Are you saying you open a Live project, load the Emote VST, and connect to Emote with no issues? And then you open a different Live project and thats what the connection issues happen?

Thanks! Yep, that’s exactly right. The first time I open Emote VST in a Live project it works, but if I close that project and open another one then Emote VST no longer works until I close Live and open it again. I am using the most recent Emote version (2.1.2) and Ableton Live 12.0.

Sorry, I can’t seem to reproduce this. I am using Live 11, but I’m not sure if that would make a difference. I can create new Live projects or reopen existing Live projects and Emote will always connect. A few more questions below:
- How is your H9000 connected to your computer (Wi-Fi, networked ethernet, or direct ethernet?)
- Are you using VST or VST3?
- Does this happen if your turn auto-connect off in Emote?
- Does this only happen when you start a new Live project?

Thanks for looking into it! Yes, I can confirm that I have the same issue in Live 11, so it’s not an issue with Live 12.
I’m connected via wifi and am using the vst3 version. It happens when I open any project after the first time I open Emote in Live, and it occurs regardless of whether auto-connect is on. The toggle to connect to the H9000 is greyed out and cannot be toggled.

Sorry, I am still not able to reproduce this. Emote will reliably connect anytime I open a new or previously saved Live project.
Are you able to try a direct ethernet connection to your H9000? This could offer a more stable connection and might resolve the issue.
If your computer doesn’t have an ethernet port, you could get a simple ethernet to USB adapter and that should work fine.

No worries, and thank you for testing it! I will try a direct connection.
